Bad Breath Information

Many people around the world have to deal with the common problem of having bad breath.  Although, bad breath does not seem like just a common problem when you are dealing with it yourself.  There are many things that cause bad breath.  The most common reason that people have bad breath is because of poor dental hygiene.

When you wake up in the morning after a long night of a dry mouth, you notice that you have developed a film on your teeth, your tongue and on your cheeks.  The bacteria in your mouth has thrived in the night and left their calling card; plaque.  Good dental hygiene includes not only brushing your teeth but scraping or brushing your gums, tongue and cheeks as well.  It involves flossing and using mouth wash also.  You should always floss before you brush your teeth.  Flossing loosens particles of food left between the teeth and brushing takes them away.

Several other things may be the cause of your bad breath besides dental hygiene.  Some people contribute their bad breath to a post nasal drip or bad sinuses.  Drainage from the sinuses runs down the back of the throat and onto the very back part of the tongue.  The drainage is made up of dead sinus cells, blood cells, pus cells, and other molecules produced by the body.  Unfortunately, it is rich in protein which is what the bacteria thriving in your mouth love to use for nutrients.  Now that bacteria have a constant food supply, bacteria and bad breath increases.  Luckily, curing bad breath associated with a post nasal drip is no different then curing bad breath due to other reasons.  The main thing is to clean your mouth of all bacteria.  The key here it to make sure that you use a tongue scraper and scrap your tongue from the very back.  You can find a tongue scraper at almost any pharmacy.  The first time that you perform this act you might want to gag since you are so close to the gag reflex.  But, with time you will be able to train your body to get used to this action.  You will be taking a large step to curing our bad breath so stick with it.  You can also see a dentist or our regular doctor to seek treatment for a sinus problem.  There are medications and nasal sprays that can control your bad sinuses, help you in your sure to bad breath and that will make you feel better overall as well.

But, what do you do if the bad breath problem is not yours but someone else’s?  The debate goes on as to whether you tell the person or not.  That choice is up to you.  Many people feel comfortable do this and others do not.  If you don’t think that you are the type of person who is able to tell someone else about a bad breath problem, try offering the person mints or gum when talking to them and take one for yourself as well.  They might get the hint over time that there is a problem there.  For some reason, society had allocated having bad breath as a major social no no.  It is something most people do not talk about but, will mention to each other if the problem is someone else’s.  The mysteries that surround the bad breath problem are infinite but, at least with the information above, you can change your habits and get on a road that is bad breath free.
